Water Filtration FAQ

The water coming out of our faucets sometimes is brown.  What is wrong?
There are a number of reasons that you might be running brown water.  1.  Chemicals can create a rust problem in water lines.  The rust will discolor water sitting idle in your pipes.  When the rust breaks free, you have an even bigger problem…the rust can clog fixtures and appliances.  2.  An underground broken pipe could allow contaminates including dirt to enter the line.  3. Iron bacteria are present in well water and can cause discoloration.  The best solution is to have a water expert from The Spengler Company test your water to determine the cause of the problem.  Then, we’ll be able to provide you with whole house water filtration solutions to get the clear, clean water flowing again.

What is the difference between the faucet mounted and pitcher style water filters and the under-the-sink models?
Without getting into details, the faucet mounted and pitcher water filters use only a small amount of active carbon filtration.  The result is they only remove about 30% to 60% of contaminates.  The under the sink models have larger filter units and will removed between 90% and 99% of contaminates.  The result?  Better water for cooking and drinking!  There are many options for water filtration available at The Spengler Company.  Your Spengler Company customer service representative can help you decide which system is best for you needs.

My bottled water is pure…isn’t it?
No.  In fact, no water is 100% pure…even if it was bottled from a French mountain stream.  Water will nearly always contain contaminates.   Did you know it is perfectly legal to bottle water directly from wells, springs and even a public water supply? If it is sold within the same state, bottled water is not subject to EPA regulations.  So, now what do you think of your bottle of water.  OK, it’s convenient but that’s about all you can say about it.  Purchasing small bottles of water for household use is impractical, expensive, and will not solve the problem of a poor water supply in your home.   The best solution is to call The Spengler Company for a whole house water filtration system.  You’ll cook with safe water, clean with safe water, bathe with safe water and, of course you can fill your re-usable water bottle for a fraction of the cost of bottled water.

What is a Whole House Water Filtration?
A whole house filtration is a system that connects directly to the main water supply of your home.   For that reason, all of your appliances, faucets, toilets, showers, baths, kitchen, laundry will use the filtered water.  For our area of the country this kind of a system can be very beneficial because of the high levels of contaminates found in the drinking water.  The Spengler Company will test your water for FREE and make a recommendation on the best system for you home.

Is it hard to install a whole house water filtration system?

Yes and no.  This is not a job for the weekend do-it-yourselfer.  There are a number of skills you must have and to be sure the unit functions properly.  In addition, a permit before the work begins and an inspection are required after the work is completed.  The best way to have a whole house water filtration system installed is to call The Spengler Company.  Our licensed, bonded and insured plumbers can install everything in less than two hours.  And, we’ll take care of all the required permits!

Testimonials

"I was very impressed with Dominic.  He really made me feel he had my best interest in mind, not just trying to sell me more than I needed.  The installers, Chris and Eric, left the area clean and the work they did looks very good.  You could not tell anything had been replaced if you had not seen previous unit."
